Wilhelm Reich wrote this short manuscript not with the intention to have it published.
Anyone with an intense and rich inner landscape of emotions, in other words, anyone truly Alive, would immediately identify a part of him/herself within the lines of this writting after just the few first paragraphs, for the content speaks of nobody in particular, but of all of us, in general, including the writer, Himself, and will also understand the need to write such words, by a Man that was, first hand witness, of both the irrationality and glory on fellow human beings.
“Little man” is that petty part of us, that does not allow to look past the barrier of what, at first sight, seems right, or wrong. “Little man” accepts what is being told, not by conviction from within his or her inner sense of Truth, but by what the majority agrees upon.
“Little man”‘s life revolves around other’s mistakes, to point them out, to justify his own inability to confess his own share of mistakes.
“Little man” writes a 500 page book about a Man’s human mistakes, overseeing and ignoring the same Man’s achievements for the rest of Mankind. Little man does not care about the achievements for his fellow human brothers and sisters, Little man only cares about himself. Compare this to the Big Man, that goes beyond overseeing the fellow man’s mistake to understand the why of the little man’s behaviour, and to offer his fellow Little man, the comprehension of why he is acting in small ways, having been He, Himself, also a Little man before.
“Little man”‘s hurt will rule his life, and he will do whatever is neccessary in the name of revenge, even if it means to conceal and distort the Truth, even if this Truth is the rightful Gift to a misled group of fellow human beings, naive enough to trust.

We all have a Little man or woman inside, but our True Core is always Big, Honest, Sincere. This is what define us as being Alive.
